Our story

From Casas-Ibáñez
to the heart of Málaga

Cañitas Maite was born in Casas-Ibáñez, Albacete, led by chefs Javier Sanz and Juan Sahuquillo, with cooking built on La Mancha produce and contemporary technique. In 2026 it arrives in Málaga inside the five-star ME Málaga by Meliá, taking over all of its food offering: two full floors, each with its own concept, atmosphere and hours, under one culinary signature.

The hotel

ME Málaga by Meliá

A five-star hotel in the heart of the city centre, next to Plaza de la Merced and a short walk from the Alcazaba, the Picasso Museum Málaga and the Cathedral. Its rooftop, with an infinity pool and panoramic views, shares the building with works by Picasso and Miró in the lobby. Cañitas Málaga runs all of its food offering across two floors.

01Is Cañitas Málaga one restaurant or several?

It is one house spread over two floors of ME Málaga by Meliá: Cañitas Málaga, the flagship restaurant, on the top floor, and Cañitas al Fresco on the rooftop. Each venue has its own atmosphere and opening hours, but both share the same culinary signature.

02How do I book a table?

Bookings are for Cañitas Málaga restaurant. You can book online on our Book a table page, choosing the day, time and number of guests. Cañitas al Fresco does not take reservations: entry is first come, first served.

03What are your opening hours?

Cañitas Málaga: every day, 1–3:30 pm and 8–10:30 pm. Cañitas al Fresco: every day, 11 am to midnight.

04Can anyone go up to Cañitas al Fresco? What about the pool?

Yes: the Cañitas al Fresco rooftop bar is open to everyone, with no booking needed. The rooftop pool is reserved for ME Málaga hotel guests.

05We are a group of 8 or more. How does it work?

Tables of 8 or more guests are served an exclusive set menu instead of the à la carte menu. Please get in touch in advance so we can plan your group menu; you will find all the details on Groups & events.

06Where exactly are you?

At ME Málaga by Meliá, Calle Victoria, 6, 29012 Málaga, right in the city centre. A one-minute walk from Plaza de la Merced and a few minutes from the Alcazaba, the Picasso Museum Málaga and the Cathedral.

07Can I see the menu before I go?

Yes. The full menus of both venues are on The menu page, and you can download them as a PDF in English or Spanish.

08Do you have an English menu?

Yes. Both the Cañitas Málaga and Cañitas al Fresco menus are available in English, and our online booking system works in English too.

09Do you have allergen information?

Yes. Allergen information is available to all our guests: just ask our team and we will tell you the allergens in each dish.
